(Re-posted from an earlier blog post due to the warm weather!)
When the weather is this gorgeous (finally), I’m pretty sure you don’t want to spend all day inside doing home improvement projects! So, I thought it was a good time to remind my readers about some of the phenomenal trails we have here in the Twin Cities and how lucky we are compared to friends and family in other areas and states.
After such a great response to my Dakota Rail post, I wanted to add a plug for the Luce Line Trail System….a fabulous state & regional trail system for biking, hiking, jogging, horseback riding + a variety of winter activities. The State trail begins in Plymouth at the Vicksburg Trailhead (good place to park the car and unload if you don’t live nearby) and travels 63 miles West to the small town of Cosmos (the 1st 30 miles are crushed limestone & the remainder is natural). You will enjoy a scenic, peaceful trek through Plymouth, Wayzata, Orono, Long Lake, Independence, and all the way to Cosmos if you’d like (there is a nice rest stop at Lake Minnetonka’s Stubbs Bay along the way).
The Regional trail also begins in Plymouth but heads East and features almost 9 miles of paved pathways leading through Plymouth & Golden Valley with beautiful views from wooded bridges overlooking Bassett Creet marshlands with Medicine Lake on the horizon and into Minneapolis through Theodore Wirth Park!
Whether you are a biker, runner, hiker, or simply looking for a new place to walk the dog, check out any or all portions of this great trail system! I have also included a link that a reader suggested for those of you just getting into the sport of road biking 🙂
